CAROLYN G.

HESTER

ABOUT

Me, age 10, in a play called The Golden Owl, which I wrote, directed, and performed in at the park with my friends

Whattup!

My name is Carolyn, I’m a New York City based and proudly New Jersey-raised actor. Growing up between the shore and NYC my whole life, I learned ease from the beach and my speed walking skills from the city.

My very first performance was singing for ‘A’ in the alphabet song at kindergarten graduation. I stood out against all the other kids…but that’s because I cried the entire graduation due to my massive stage fright. My parents have never recovered from watching that unfold. So you can imagine their surprise when I told them at 8 years old that I wanted to be an actor.

I was the shyest and quietest in the class. Which is all ironic now because I never stop talking…

I realized later in life that despite it all, I am a bit of a thrill-seeker. Perhaps that’s why little-Carolyn chose to pursue the one thing in life that never failed to scare her. Because there’s no better feeling than facing your fears. Which is why I frequent haunted house every October, repeating “they’re just actors they can’t hurt me.”

Anyway, here I go with the endless talking.

Basically if there’s nothing to fear, there’s nothing to be brave about either. And that’s kind of the most fun thing to do in life.

My love for the city led me to study at New York University in the Tisch Drama program where I recently graduated after studying at the Meisner Studio and the Atlantic Acting School. I adored my time at both studios and found great value in both grounding and impulsive techniques.

If you’re not hearing from me, you can find me embarrassing myself in a clown class, singing to myself in public, or taking photos of dogs on the street.
